Internet Holidays The internet has completely revolutionised the way we do everything. Any information is available at the click of a button, and usually relatively quickly as well. In the wake of the recession several holiday companies have collapsed leaving customers stranded at awkward times. In the past holiday companies used to sort everything out for you, but now, with the internet you can sort your holidays out for yourselves and get some surprisingly good deals with a little extra effort. So, if you want to make the most of your money, make sure that you book quite a long way in advance. The first thing that you need is an idea of where you’re going to go and how long you’re going to be there. Book the flights first, the further in advance you book the cheaper they are, and it’s sometimes worth travelling a little further to reach an airport that offers cheaper flights than going to the one that is nearest but a little more expensive. The second thing that you are going to need is to find a good place to stay. There are hundreds of comparison websites that find you hotels that have been reviewed by people that have actually stayed there, and can find you any sort of accommodation at any sort of price. The third, and perhaps most important thing, that you are going to need is a good travel insurance policy. Again comparison websites can help, but there are loads of providers out there that offer deals very quickly and the process of shopping does not have to take all year. If you are going to somewhere exotic your costs might be slightly higher, but anywhere in mainland Europe should be pretty cheap. Finally, do some research on places to go when you get there. Look up week tickets on public transport, opening hours and special deals on sightseeing attractions, and even good places to eat if you want.
Whether you are holidaying
with a tour operator, or whether you are sorting it out yourself, it’s
important that you have a good means of communication when you’re on
holiday. In the past, using your mobile phone abroad has been quite
expensive, but this summer Vodafone have cancelled their roaming charges
so it is as cheap to call in Italy, for example, |
